Reflections and Thanks
It’s a new thing, me being a published author. For the past year, I have been writing a book and now that it is out and in the world, it has felt…well strange, different. Publishing a book in a pandemic is a bit anticlimactic, I must say. After reflection the past two weeks, here are my observations:
1. I love writing
I really enjoyed the interviewing, reading, the reflection, and the writing and rewriting of this book. It was a lot of work, but something I got immense satisfaction from. Not just completing the book, but the writing itself. Thanks to my editorial staff at the Creator Institute and New Degree Press for providing me the scaffolding to ensure that my writing was leading me towards a cohesive, and I hope useful, end product.
2. I am passionate about decision making and implementation
I never tired of the subject, which after dedicating so much of my career and certainly this past year, to the study and practice of decision making, I feel even more strongly in the message of my book. The results of decisions happen after choices are made, but not nearly enough time and energy is spent on the things like culture and communication that make implementations successful. Decisions are a starting line, not a finish line as we often think. Perhaps the same is true of writing a book.
3. I am grateful for the community
Over 100 people joined me on my author’s journey by pre-purchasing books (which I still anxiously await from the printer to sign and send out). Thousands more, literally, liked, shared, and commented on updates and videos I posted along the way. I am grateful.
4. I am committed to give back
And I am giving back in several ways:
- With the pre-order proceeds, I was able to fund two Well Made Scholarships.
- With every review published on Amazon I will donate another $1 to the scholarship fund.
- And to thank everyone who expressed interest in the book, I am offering the ebook on Amazon for just $0.99. That offer will end in the next week or so, so now is the time to buy your copies and gift it to others who might be interested.
- Starting in October, I will be hosting some “ask me anything” sessions on topics from the book as a way to engage with those who are reading and practicing well made decisions. More on that to come
I am incredibly appreciative of your support. May all your decisions be well made!
